It’s bean an adventure.
The Market Street site has been home to Bewiched for just over six months now and although smaller than their previous site, it is a perfectly formed space with some fantastic period features and a feel-good, buzzy atmosphere.
Carmen Clark, the manager, says the drink they sell the most is the latte. This popular drink, not too strong and with a pleasant milky taste, is made with beans bought from Market Harborough in a blend created especially for Bewiched.
Drinks are often ordered alongside scrumptious cakes and delicious paninis. The food is made at Bewiched’s own site to maintain the high standard; the most popular is the New York panini made with cheese, ham, red onion and mayonnaise.
Thanks a latte
Four members of staff with excellent customer skills account for the continuity of customers. Staff recognise and greet regulars and Carmen says this personalised service is appreciated. A lady with anxiety issues is a regular and says she enjoys coming in as staff are friendly and treat her ‘like anyone else’! There is regular in-house training; staff assessments are also held every three months.
Giving it their best shot!
Small dogs are welcomed to the cafe. Charities and local community groups are supported – the Samaritans hold their regular coffee morning at Bewiched.
The Bewiched chain, which started out in Wellingborough town centre in 2010, has now expanded to 9 stores including one at Wellingborough Railway Station. It is not resting on its laurels, though – the latest one opened in Burton Latimer recently and there are plans to open two more shops in the area!
FIVE TOP TIPS FOR GOOD COFFEE:
- use fresh beans only
- optimum storage temperature is 22 degrees centigrade
- grind beans as you need – do not store ground beans
- Do NOT burn the milk: Optimum temperature should be no more than 60 degrees centigrade
- Serve with a smile and enjoy!
