Castello Lounge

What keeps people coming back for more?

Could it be the informal, airy, eclectic atmosphere of Castello Lounge? Or the great range of food and drink including special menus catering to vegans, gluten intolerances, children and everything in-between? Or perhaps it’s the easy, friendly welcome of the staff.

Assistant Manager, Rachael Sheridan, strongly feels the reason is that Lounge staff always go the extra mile: instances include nipping into the local supermarket to buy a food item, occasionally cooking a dish not on the menu and even cooking a pie from scratch for an allergy sufferer.

People make the Lounge go round

A happy team is a productive one. Besides being friendly and professional, Loungers are slightly quirky, off-the-wall individuals, encouraged in other interests like wood carving and wind-surfing. Incentives motivate the team, like the ‘Lounger of the Week’ who wins a £100 Amazon voucher (Congratulations, Rachael!).

This happy, customer-focused atmosphere draws customers in. Rachael recalls a lady who always asks for ‘Hagrid’ the 7-foot tall General Manager and sulks when he is absent. The chef once cooked a special meal for a distressed, down on his luck customer, and also left the kitchen to chat with the man who told Rachael that this gesture had ‘re-instated his faith in people’.

Teamwork makes the dream work

Community spirit is strongly encouraged. The largest amount raised for charity through Loungeaid was just under £1600 for Chelsea’s Angels in 2016 and the mulled wine and mince pies sold for charity at the Christmas Lights Switch-on were delicious!

What makes Castello Lounge unique?

Rachael says the Lounge caters to everyone. There is a craft table for children, games for kids and parents, dogs are welcomed with a dog bowl and a treat, and a regular Sunday Quiz involves a cash prize and ‘the biggest bragging rights in town’!

Offers include the Breakfast Club with a Lounge or Veggie breakfast for just £7.25 (the two most popular items on the menu), Cheeky Mondays ‘make Mondays less rubbish’ by providing a free drink or pud with a main or burger, and Tapas Tuesday: three plates of tapas and a glass of wine for just £9.95.

Clubbing anyone?

The Mums and Tots Stay & Play Club is at 9:30am every Monday and the Knitting & Crochet Club is on every Wednesday from 10am to 11am with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits. Rachael tells us plans are in the pipeline for a Book Club, so watch this space…..

Shake it up with Cocktails!

The most popular cocktail on the menu is the Cherry Bakewell and Rachel kindly shares the recipe: One and a half shot of amaretto, half a shot of dark rum, half a shot of caramel and a bottle of cherry juice. Sounds divine!

Top Five: Cocktails

  • Cherry Bakewell
  • Mohito / Raspberry Mohito
  • Pina Colada
  • Prosecco & Passionfruit Martini
  • Espresso Martini
