Halsey Opticians

The eyes have it!

Halsey Opticians, an established independent practice in the heart of Wellingborough, has a reputation for providing top quality eye-care and products.

Michaela Mayes, the Manager and a partner in the clinic, says that, besides eye exams, their most popular treatment is behaviour optometry. Children with visual difficulties can struggle with reading, writing, visual perceptual or hand-eye coordination, which can result in problems with learning. Local schools refer these children to Halsey Opticians, where experienced optometrists ensure each child gets individual care and attention.

Clear vision at Halsey’s

Halsey Opticians, now a part of the Hakim Group, offer niche services to customers like the colorimetry and OCT machines which sets them apart, a dry eye clinic with a blephex machine, diet recommendations and capsules sold in-store to help sufferers and Optomap technology which aids early detection of any problems with customers’ sight and health. There is also a Mpod machine which helps assess the risk of developing age-related macular degeneration.

The clinic combines competitive pricing with excellent clinical eye-care and a shopping experience in keeping with the stylish brands on offer. But don’t be misled by the sleek, upmarket look of the store – they cater to NHS patients and provide a friendly, personalised service. There is a kiddies corner in the store to keep children occupied and a cosy seating area with free beverages and biscuits on offer. Michaela says this is so popular with some older patients, that they occasionally drop in just to have a little chat and a rest along with a cuppa!

The company has a strong social conscience and supports charity Vision Aid Overseas. Michela (who admitted that she has never done this before!) has been training since last October and participated in the London Marathon for the first time last week, along with other members of the Group.

Staff have regular in-house training and Michaela says the clinic’s USP is a combination of a high-quality offer with a one to one service combined with competitive pricing. So do drop in for a chat with Halsey’s friendly, professional staff and perhaps indulge in a coffee with biccies!

Michaela has successfully finished the London marathon last Sunday in the blazing heat. Well done, Michaela! If you would like to donate to Vision Aid Overseas through Michaela’s page, please click HERE
