A fantastic opportunity for you to get involved with your local community: Wellingborough SOUP’s first event is being held on 2nd September at Glamis Hall, Goldsmith Road (Queensway Estate) in Wellingborough.
Book a table for a dinner funding micro-grants for creative projects which benefit the Borough of Wellingborough. Projects can be anything from planting a garden, to funding a community field trip to starting a new community group.
Attendees pay £5 for soup and salad and vote on the project they think will benefit the community the most. Five community groups will be pitching for the money raised at the door on the day. They will each have 4 minutes to present their project to the audience. Once all projects (maximum of 4 per event) have pitched, the audience get the chance to vote for their favourite. The project with the most votes takes the proceeds from ticket sales (ie. 100 attendees at £5 = £500) to finance their project. They will be invited back at a later date to update on their project, share their success and show how the money was spent etc.
This is a great opportunity for local businesses, community groups and individuals to get involved with local community projects. This is community democracy in action!
